The Minox Model B, produced from 1958 to 1972, was a compact, ultra-light subminiature camera that became a cornerstone of CIA espionage during the Cold War. Its small size (97mm with a selenium cell exposure meter) and ability to take high-quality close-range photographs of documents made it ideal for covert operations. Using film one-quarter the size of standard 35mm, it held 50 frames per cassette, allowing agents to discreetly capture and smuggle sensitive information. The camera’s advanced technology and concealability earned it a reputation as the world’s most widely used spy camera, significantly aiding CIA intelligence-gathering efforts.
